About Image Pixelator

Apply pixelation mosaic effect to images or selected regions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does image pixelation work?
Pixelation works by dividing the image into blocks of a specified size and replacing all pixels within each block with a single average color. Larger pixel sizes create a more pixelated, mosaic-like effect.
Can I pixelate only part of an image?
Yes. Switch to region mode and click and drag on the image to select a rectangular area. Only the selected region will be pixelated, leaving the rest of the image untouched.
What image formats are supported?
The tool supports all browser-compatible image formats including PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, and BMP. The output is always downloaded as a PNG file to preserve quality.
Is my data safe?
Yes! All processing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images are never uploaded to any server. No data is collected, stored, or transmitted.
What pixel size should I use?
For light censoring or artistic effects, try 5 to 10 pixels. For strong blurring of text or faces, use 15 to 30 pixels. For extreme pixelation or retro pixel art style, go above 30 pixels.
