About Line Sorter

Sort lines alphabetically, numerically, by length, or randomly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sorting options are available?
You can sort lines alphabetically (A-Z or Z-A), by line length (shortest or longest first), numerically by the leading number on each line, or randomly shuffle all lines.
How does numeric sorting work?
Numeric sorting extracts the first number found on each line and sorts by that value. Lines without numbers are placed at the end of the sorted result.
What does the case-insensitive toggle do?
When enabled, the sort treats uppercase and lowercase letters as equal. For example, "Apple" and "apple" would be considered the same for ordering purposes.
Is my data safe?
Yes! All processing happens entirely in your browser. Your text is never sent to any server. No data is collected, stored, or transmitted.
Can I remove blank lines while sorting?
Yes. Enable the "Remove empty lines" option and all blank or whitespace-only lines will be stripped from the output before sorting.
